Our volunteer Surf Lifesavers have an incredible impact on Australian beaches every year by providing a safe environment for Australians to enjoy the beaches and waterways around the country.

Here are some extraordinary statistics last summer in Victoria alone as well as other fundraising events happening around the state.


2009-2010 Volunteer Patrol Statistics

Preventative Actions: 46,967

Minor First Aid: 1,600

Major First Aid: 63

Total First Aid: 1,663

Rescues: 758

Hours Patrolled: 13,314

Beach Attendance: 1,305,322


Statistics include those of the Australian Lifeguard service, a division of Surf Life Saving Australia
