OFFICIAL RULES FOR THE 1ST ANNUAL SURF LIFE SAVING SWEEPSTAKES

Entry Restrictions  Only entries on original entry form are accepted. Entrants do not have to donate to enter the sweepstake, nor does donating increase the chance of winning a prize. To participate in the sweepstakes, the entrant must fill in and return the original entry form with or without a donation. Donors are not in a better position to win the sweepstakes than non-donors.
Competition Period  Competition opens for entries on 11 January 2010, entries close on 15 February 2010, all entries must be received by 15 February 2010.
Entry Method  Entry must be made by filling in the original entry form and sending it back to the Promoter before the end of the Competition Period. Maximum Number of Entries There is no maximum number of entries.
Draw Details  Prizes will be drawn at 2pm Wednesday 17 February 2010.All draws will take place at 18 Manning Street, South Brisbane Qld 4101. Winners will be randomly drawn from a barrel.

Notification of winners  All winners will be notified in writing within 7 days of the draw.
Publication date Thursday 18 February 2010 Publication Details Winners details will appear in the Public Notices section of The Australian.
Prize Claim Date and Time  Prizes must be claimed by Wednesday 17 March 2010 (“Prize Claim Date and Time”). If any prize is not claimed by the Prize Claim Date and Time, the relevant winner’s entry will be deemed invalid and the Promoter reserves the right to conduct such further draws on the Unclaimed Prize Draw Date as are necessary to distribute the prize/s, subject to any directions given by any relevant authority. If required by law or any relevant authority, the winner/s will have their name and state of residence published in accordance with the unclaimed Prize Draw Publication Details.
Travel must be booked and completed by 31 March 2011.
Unclaimed Prize Draw Date Wednesday 24 March 2010, 2pm at 18 Manning Street, South Brisbane, Queensland 4101 Prize Delivery Details Prizes to be sent via Registered Post.
Unclaimed Prize Draw Publication Details  Published in The Australian, if required only on 25 March 2010.

TERMS OF ENTRY
1. In these Terms of Entry, terms and words used have the meaning as set out in the Defined Terms (where relevant).
 
2. Entry is open only to residents of the Relevant State/s who comply with the Entry Restrictions. Directors, officers, management, employees and other staff (and the immediate families of directors, officers, management, employees and other staff are excluded from entry.
 
3. The competition will be conducted during the Competition Period. Competition opens for entries from 1 January 2010 and closes on 15 February 2010. All entries must be received by 15 February 2010.
 

4. To enter the competition, entrants must follow the Entry Method during the Competition Period. Entrants do not have to donate (or otherwise pay money) to enter the sweepstake, nor does donating increase the chance of winning a prize.

 
5. To enter competition, entrants must fill in and return the original entry form to the Promoter (to the address noted on the form) . Entries must be received by the Promoter during the Competition Period. Entrants may submit up to the Maximum Number of Entries. Multiple entries are permitted provided each entry is on an original entry form.
 
6. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for late, lost, incomplete, incorrectly submitted, delayed, illegible, corrupted or misdirected entries, claims or correspondence whether due to error, omission, alteration, tampering, deletion, theft, destruction, transmission interruption, communications failure or otherwise. The Promoter has no control over communications networks and accepts no responsibility for any problems associated with a postal delay or failure.
 
7. The Promoter has the right to, at its discretion, reject or not accept entries that do not, in the Promoter’s opinion, comply with the Terms of Entry.
 
8. Prize draws will be conducted in accordance with the Draw Details. Prizes can only be awarded to an entry that is accepted and considered valid by the Promoter.
 
9. The prizes are specified in the Prize Details. The total prize pool is specified in the Total Prize Pool section of the Defined Terms.
 
10. Where a prize includes international or domestic travel, the prize cannot be taken during exclusion periods, blockout dates 24 December 2009 to 2 January 2010 and 23 December 2010 to 3 January 2011. Any flights and accommodation constituting part of a prize are subject to booking and availability. All costs associated with a travel prize which are not specified to be included in the prize, including but not limited to any transfer costs, meals, taxes, insurance and other ancillary costs, are the responsibility of the winner and their companion/s. The winner and any travelling companion/s are responsible for ensuring that they have all necessary travel insurance and documents to travel to the relevant place (including a current passport and visas, if required). The Promoter is not responsible for any cancellation, delay or rescheduling of flights or any costs incurred as a result (including, without limitation, accommodation costs). Such costs will be the sole responsibility of the winner. Where a prize includes international travel, winners are advised to consult their healthcare professional regarding recommended immunisations and/or health checks prior to travelling and to check for travel warnings and any perceived hazards with appropriate authorities, including www.dfat.gov.au.
 
11. The Promoter takes no responsibility and accepts no liability for the health and safety of the winner and their companion.
 
12. If the prize includes vouchers, all vouchers are valid until the voucher expiry date as specified in the Prize Conditions. Vouchers are subject to the conditions stipulated by the provider of the voucher. If the total value of a voucher is not used at the time of redemption, a new voucher may (subject to the conditions stipulated by the provider) be issued for the remaining amount. Any such further voucher is valid for the remainder of the original voucher expiry period. Vouchers cannot be redeemed for further vouchers. Each prize consists of one voucher for the prize to be redeemed with Travel provider.
 
13. If the prize includes tickets, all tickets are valid for the date or period as indicated on the tickets. Tickets are subject to the conditions stipulated by the provider of the tickets.
 
14.   If a winner of a prize is under the age of 18 years, the Promoter may, at its discretion, award the prize to the winner’s parent or guardian.
 
15. All entries submitted to the Promoter in connection with this competition, become the property of the Promoter and will not be returned to entrants.
 
16. The winner/s will be notified as stated in the Notification of Winners and their name and state of residence will be published in accordance with the Publication Details. By entering this competition, each entrant agrees that his or her full address not be published.
 
17. If any prize is not claimed by the Prize Claim Date and Time, the relevant winner’s entry will be deemed invalid and the Promoter reserves the right to conduct such further draws on the Unclaimed Prize Draw Date as are necessary to distribute the prize/s, subject to any directions given by any relevant authority. If required by law or any relevant authority, the winner/s will have their name and state of residence published in accordance with the Unclaimed Prize Draw Publication Details. Travel must be booked and completed by 31 March 2011.

18. Entrants consent to the Promoter using the entrant's name, image and/or voice in the event that they are a winner (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media for a period of one year without remuneration for the purpose of promoting this competition.
 
19. The Promoter and its associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense, damage, personal injury or death which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person’s negligence) in connection with this competition or accepting or using any prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law).
 
20. Without limiting the previous paragraph, the Promoter and its associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any damage to or delay in postage of prizes. Prizes will be provided by the Promoter to the winner/s as stated in the Prize Delivery Details.
 
21. The Promoter may require the winner/s to provide identification as requested by the Promoter including (without limitation) proof of identity, proof of age and proof of address. Identification considered suitable for verification is at the Promoter’s discretion.
 
22. No prize is transferable or exchangeable, nor can it be redeemed for cash.
 
23. All prize values in this Competition, are in Australian dollars; dollars, AUD$ or $ are a reference to the lawful currency of Australia.
 
24. The Promoter is bound by the National Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988.
