Grant funding makes up a large and growing part of the Australian fundraising landscape.
Surf Life Saving Australia and each of its affiliated State/Territory bodies understands the importance of supporting their clubs and staff to source and secure revenue through grant funding. As a result, the Grant Seeking Unit was established in 2009 and has grown to become a key provider of valuable grassroots support for our hard working, dedicated volunteers.
The Grant Seeking Unit aims to maximise Surf Life Saving’s access to private and Government grant funding across Australia. We provide a united, strategic and professional approach to grant making bodies.
By delivering expert grant research and writing support, the Grant Seeking Unit can assist with securing vital funds for a range of projects including the purchase of valuable lifesaving equipment, youth development and community education programs, and capital works projects for clubhouses.
Services offered by the Grant Seeking Unit for clubs include:
• Internal and external grant research
• Grant writing
• Grant application review and/or advice
• Facilitation of key relationships and sector advice
• Grant writing workshops to assist clubs build capacity.
The Grant Seeking Unit has produced a Grant Application Guide for SLS Clubs. This publication provides general guidance about grants as well as some template responses to common grant application questions.
